What Does a Mobile Car Wash Cost in the Austin Area?

The jump from $45 to $275 is not margin, it is labour and scope. An Express Hand Wash is exterior only. The Ultimate Drip includes a full interior vacuum, mat shampoo, interior conditioning and wax, and takes most of a morning.

What the Austin market looks like

For context, here is roughly where the options sit around Austin and the Hill Country in 2026. These are category ranges, not any one business:

• Express tunnel wash: about $8 to $25 per wash, or roughly $25 to $40 a month for unlimited plans.
• Fixed-location hand wash: about $45 to $75, plus your time driving there and waiting.
• Mobile hand wash: about $45 to $150 for most services, depending on scope and vehicle.
• Full paint correction or detailing: $300 and up, often well up.

Mobile sits between the tunnel and the detail shop, and the gap it closes is time rather than quality alone. Nobody drives anywhere and nobody waits in a lobby.

What actually changes the price

• Vehicle size. A full-size truck or a three-row SUV has far more surface area than a sedan and takes proportionally longer. Expect roughly 10 to 30 percent above sedan pricing.
• Condition. A car washed every few weeks is quick. One that has sat under cedar trees since spring is a different job, and heavy contamination can carry a fee.
• Interior work. Vacuuming, mat shampoo and conditioning are the most labour-intensive parts of any detail and drive the higher tiers.
• Distance. Drive time is real cost for any mobile operator. Ours is built into zone pricing rather than hidden, and it is waived for multiple vehicles at one stop.
• Frequency. Maintenance washing is cheaper per visit than rescue washing, because there is less to remove.

Is mobile worth the premium over a tunnel?

Straightforwardly: if you value your time at anything, the comparison is closer than the sticker price suggests. A tunnel wash is $15 and fifteen minutes of your life, plus the drive. Call it forty minutes door to door. A mobile wash is more money and none of your time — the car gets cleaned while you work.

If your car is a tool and your time is flexible, the tunnel wins on cost and it is not close. If your schedule is full, or your paint is dark or coated, the calculation flips.

Vehicle size and condition are the two things a price list cannot guess. Booking online shows exact pricing for your vehicle size before you commit, and if your car is in unusual shape, a photo by text gets you a straight answer faster than any calculator.
