“Ultimate Drip” by Drip-N-Shine

The Ultimate Drip is the longest service we offer, and the honest reason is that most of it is slow work that cannot be rushed. Here is what actually happens in your driveway, and why each step is there.

1. The exterior comes first, and it comes off in layers

Before anything touches your paint, the car gets a pre-soak cannon foam and then a second cannon foam shampoo. That is not for show. Most paint damage from washing happens when grit still on the surface gets dragged across it by a mitt. Foam lifts and floats that grit off first, so the contact wash is moving soap, not sand.

Only then does the hand wash happen, with clean mitts and fresh water. Wheels, tires and wheel wells are done separately with their own equipment, because brake dust and road grime are the dirtiest things on the vehicle and you do not want them anywhere near your paint.

2. Spot-free water, because Central Texas water is hard

This is the step people underestimate. Ordinary tap water around Dripping Springs and Austin is full of dissolved minerals. When it dries on hot paint, the water evaporates and the minerals stay behind as spots — and in real heat they can bond hard enough to need polishing rather than washing. Our rinse water has the minerals removed, so it dries clear. Then the car is towel dried and blow dried rather than left to air dry, which is the other place spots come from.

3. Detail wax, and what it is honestly for

The wax gives the deep gloss that makes the Ultimate look like a detail rather than a wash. It also makes the next few weeks easier — dirt, bug residue and pollen sit on top of the wax instead of bonding to the clear coat, so they rinse off rather than needing to be scrubbed.

What it is not: a ceramic coating or paint protection film. Wax is a sacrificial layer measured in weeks, not years. Anyone telling you a wax lasts a season is selling you something.

4. The interior, which is where the hours actually go

The exterior of an Ultimate and a Premium Drip are identical. What separates them is the interior work, and it is the most labour-intensive part of the whole service.

Interior blow out first — compressed air through the vents, seams, seat rails and every crevice a vacuum cannot reach, so the dust ends up somewhere a vacuum can get it. Then vacuum, then mat shampoo, which is wet work that has to dry before the car goes back together. Then interior conditioning on the dash, door cards and seats, and interior windows — done last, because everything else throws dust onto glass.

5. Door jambs and the pollen and bug follow-up

Door jambs are the detail that gives people away. A car can be spotless and still feel half-done if you open the door onto a dirty sill. They are on the list for a reason.

The pollen and bug follow-up is the last pass. Bug residue is acidic — around love bug season in May and September especially — and it etches clear coat if it is left to bake. Getting it off properly means soaking and lifting, never scrubbing dry, which is how most bug-related paint damage actually happens.

Who the Ultimate Drip is actually for

• A car that has not been properly cleaned in a long time. This is the reset.
• Before you sell or trade. It reads as a well-kept car in person and in photos, and it changes what people offer.
• After a road trip, when the front end is covered and the interior has lived through it.
• Before something that matters — a wedding, a client pickup, a car show.

And who it is not for

If your car is washed regularly and just needs a refresh, the Ultimate is more service than you need. A Maintenance Hand Wash or a Standard Drip will get you there for a lot less. The Ultimate earns its price when there is genuinely three and a half hours of work to do — we would rather tell you that than sell you the top tier by default.
